OUT OF DANGER

OUT OF DANGER: Danger, a dog from the Ombili location in Katutura, gave birth to 17 puppies last week and was rescued by the Namibian Animal Welfare Association (NAWA) yesterday after Namibian Sun reported the news late on Sunday. Sadly, four of the puppies died due to unknown causes. However, Danger and the 13 surviving puppies were collected, and the pups are receiving supplemental puppy milk to support their health and that of their mother.

The dog’s owner is doing his best and working well with the NAWA team, the association said. NAWA said it will return the dogs to the owner at an appropriate time once they are stabilised, sterilised and fed. Giving birth to 17 puppies is considered unusual. “Female dogs have tons of eggs, viable eggs. She must have been intimate with multiple male dogs,” said Janine van Rooyen from NAWA.
