JUST IN: Enough water points at Fish River Canyon, NWR assures
'No need to worry'
Following a May report on Facebook that the Fish River Canyon had limited water points, Namibia Wildlife Resorts (NWR) spokesperson Nelson Ashipala today said the popular hiking route is safe to walk with enough water points for hikers.
"I doubt NWR will put anyone at risk with regards to the water points," he said.
Ashipala urged hikers to use biodegradable soap to keep the water sources clean, and added that there is no need to worry about sharing water points with wildlife, as there are water points specifically set up for hikers.
He further said hikers can also be on the lookout for beer at some water points for their enjoyment and relaxation.
Meanwhile, the total number of hikers for the year so far cannot be confirmed as there have been a number of cancellations and last-minute bookings, the spokesperson said.
