JUST IN: Namcor satisfied with results of Venus drilling
The National Petroleum Corporation of Namibia (Namcor) says it is satisfied with recent drilling activities completed in the Venus well, adding that recent appraisal efforts proved successful.
This marks follow-up work done after a major discovery by oil partners TotalEnergies, QatarEnergy and Namcor.
The Venus well is touted to be among the 10 biggest discoveries in the last decade, and has uplifted Namibia’s status as promising background for oil and gas exploration.
“We are very happy with the results of the Venus-1X DST and of the Venus 1A appraisal well, the second successful well in PEL 56. We will now focus our efforts in integrating the acquired dynamic data to progress development studies and assess the potential of a development on Block 2913B,” Namcor acting managing director Shiwana Ndeunyema said of the appraisal results.
Namcor holds a 10% participating interest in the well, together with TotalEnergies (40%), QatarEnergy (30%) and Impact Oil and Gas (20%).
