British High Commission defends Chevening cohort
News in short
The British High Commission in Windhoek says the 2023-2024 Chevening scholarship cohort from Namibia, who appear to be predominantly Oshiwambo-speaking, were chosen on merit.
“Selection is solely based on an applicant’s qualifications and merit,” the mission told Namibian Sun.
It added: “The Chevening scholarship programme is fully inclusive and does not take into account gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, marital or parental status, caste, class or any personal attributes of candidates”.
