Woman raped while answering call of nature
Victim fears boyfriend's reaction
The incident took place at Ekamba village in the Oshikoto Region.
A 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped while relieving herself in the bushes at Ekamba village in the Oshikoto Region.
Chief Inspector Ellen Nehale-Kangulu from the Oshana community policing sub-division confirmed the incident, adding that it took place on Thursday evening in the Oniipa constituency.
It is alleged that the suspect and the victim were socialising together when the suspect started fondling the woman's breasts. He reportedly also promised to buy her wine.
Nehale-Kangulu said later on, the suspect allegedly ambushed the victim while she was urinating nearby. “The suspect approached the victim from behind while she was urinating, pushed her and kicked her several times before pulling off her underwear. The suspect then forcefully had sexual intercourse with the victim under coercive circumstances."
The victim rushed home and told her boyfriend she was assaulted, and was taken to the hospital that same night, the police said.
According to Nehale-Kangulu, the victim did not reveal the rape to her boyfriend or to the doctor, allegedly because she was afraid of what her boyfriend's reaction would be. She only reported it to the police on Sunday.
The suspect is a Namibian man who has yet to be arrested, pending further investigations.
