Woman arrested for attempted murder of baby boy
A 22-year-old woman reportedly attempted to kill her 11-month-old baby on Saturday by hanging him from a rope inside a shack at Hochfeld.
According to a police report, the suspect's elder brother fortunately broke down the door, entered the shack, and managed to remove the child from the rope just in time.
"The victim is in stable condition and has received necessary medical assistance," police said.
The suspect is due to appear in court today.

Meanwhile, three suspects were arrested In Oshakati on Friday and charged with hunting protected game without a permit and dealing or possessing controlled wildlife products after they were caught in the act of selling a live pangolin valued at N$50 000.
In Oranjemund, a 32-year-old male was arrested and charged with dealing in cannabis after he was found in possession of 2 030 grams valued at N$101 500 during a police search on Friday.
Fatal crash
Yesterday, a 54-year-old woman in Walvis Bay's Tutaleni informal settlement tragically succumbed to severe injuries after a 28-year-old on-duty driver from the Namibia Protection Services crashed his vehicle into her shack while she was sleeping.
The incident occurred at approximately 10:00.
"The victim sustained critical injuries and passed away at the scene," reported the police. The driver has been arrested.
Furthermore, in Wanaheda, on Saturday, on Eneas Peter Nanyemba Street, an unknown suspect allegedly broke into a vehicle and stole a total of five shotguns, valued at N$30,093.
As of now, no recovery or arrest has been made, but the police are actively investigating the theft.
