Woman arrested after panga attack
News in short
Police in the Ohangwena Region are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 38-year-old woman allegedly attacked a 30-year-old man with a panga.
The incident, which took place on Sunday night at Ondjabalala 1 village in the Endola area, saw the man sustaining serious injuries.
Ohangwena police crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Melanie Mburuu, said it is alleged the suspect used a panga to hack the victim on his head.
She said it is further reported that the suspect and the victim had a fight before the attack. “The fight stopped and the victim followed the suspect to her house, where she hacked him with the panga. From there, he ran away. The victim was found in his sleeping room by neighbours on Monday in critical condition,” Mburuu said.
She added that the neighbours informed the police and the victim was transported to Engela State Hospital where he is currently admitted in critical condition.
The suspect has been arrested and is expected to make her first appearance in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week. Police investigations continue.
