Sibling quarrel leads to murder
A 25-year-old man stabbed his 28-year-old brother to death with a kitchen knife on Sunday in Otjomuise.
A police report said the brothers lived in the same house and started arguing in the early morning hours of Sunday. During the argument, the younger brother stabbed his older brother in the chest, killing him.
According to an eyewitness, it is alleged that the deceased locked his girlfriend in a room, and when the suspect arrived, he wanted to know why she was locked in.
"That is when the argument started, leading to the fight and stabbing and causing one of the brothers' death," the police stated.
The police recovered a knife from the roof as well as a screwdriver, which was found next to the deceased.
Dangerous relations
In another sibling quarrel, a 25-year-old man was cut with a panga on his left arm by his 29-year-old brother.
The victim was seriously injured and transported with a motorbike to the Etoto clinic, and then taken to Opuwo State Hospital. The suspect was arrested.
In another violent attack reported to the police, a 22-year-old man chopped a 21-year-old man on his back with an axe on Saturday in Aranos. The incident occurred at the complainant’s house, where the men were drinking alcohol, and a quarrel broke out. The victim sustained serious injuries and was transferred to the Mariental hospital. The suspect has been arrested.
In another incident, a 41-year-old woman was beaten with an unknown object by her boyfriend at the Uulunga utatu cattle post in the Ondangwa Region on Saturday. She fell unconscious and was admitted to the Onandjokwe hospital. The suspect was arrested.
According to the police, a 37-year-old Namibian was shot in his right foot while attempting to flee the scene of a crime and is receiving medical attention.
Drug busts
Meanwhile, a Namibian truck driver was arrested on Friday at the Windhoek-Rehoboth road traffic checkpoint on his way to South Africa with three boxes of cannabis valued at more than N$1.2 million.
Further investigations were carried out, which resulted in the arrest of additional suspects in the northern industrial area.
In a separate incident, two Namibian men, aged 45 and 47, were arrested on Saturday about 20 km from Maltahöhe after they were found in possession of 30 half-parcels of cannabis in the boot of the car during a police search. The value is still to be determined.
