Poachers caught near Windhoek

Two poachers were caught near Windhoek last week in possession of oryx and kudu carcasses.
A resident who had spotted suspicious movement in the hills near his home on Thursday morning alerted several neighbourhood watch groups and a police unit.
According to those involved, two of the four occupants of the car fled with a rifle. Two suspects, Derick Brokerhoff (47) and Rooinasie Markus (27), were arrested on the spot. According to those involved, they were found in possession of unskinned carcasses of an oryx and a kudu, valued at a total of N$8 000 as well as a box of ammunition for a Remington rifle.
A case of illegal hunting and possession has been opened against the suspects.
