Oshana police investigate baby dumping
News in short
Police in the Oshana Region are investigating a case of concealment of birth after an unknown woman allegedly dumped a foetus in a dustbin on Friday morning.
Oshana crime investigation coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, said the police have launched a manhunt for the suspect.
Ndjadila said the foetus is estimated to be the result of a four- to five-month pregnancy, and the discovery was made by members of the public who were collecting refuse.
“The foetus was found in a dustbin near the 6000 Complex in Ondangwa,” he said, adding that the gender of the foetus has not yet been determined.
The remains have been transported to the Oshakati mortuary. Police investigations continue.
