Omuthiya: Another escapee rearrested

News in short
Kenya Kambowe
One of the inmates who escaped from the Omuthiya police holding cells last Saturday has been rearrested. This brings the tally of those rearrested to six, while five remain on the run.

This was confirmed by Deputy Commissioner Wynand Hermanus Neels from the Oshikoto police, who yesterday told Namibian Sun that the sixth suspect was rearrested at his parents’ house at Omulegongo village in the Omuntele constituency.

Initially, 11 inmates escaped from the holding cells by breaking through a wall.

Namibian Sun on Monday reported that over 280 inmates who have escaped from police custody since 2019 are still on the loose.
