N$3.5m in drugs seized in August

Various types of drugs valued at more than N$3.5 million were seized last month, while police arrested 135 suspects in connection with drug-related crimes.
Of these, 129 suspects are Namibians, while two Angolans, a Tanzanian, a South African, a Sudanese and a Zimbabwean national were also arrested.
According to the drug seizure and arrest report issued for the month of August, drugs worth N$3.546 million were seized.
This included 250 135 kilograms of cannabis valued at N$2.5 million, 747 mandrax tablets worth N$89 640 and 110 units of crack cocaine worth N$11 000.
A total of 1 1887 kilograms of cocaine powder – valued at N$943 815 – and one straw of tik worth N$240 were also confiscated.
