Multiple suicides reported over weekend
Multiple suicides were reported to the Namibian police over the past weekend. A 30-year-old woman died by suicide on Saturday in Dorado Valley. Her body was found in her bathroom.
It is alleged that the woman died after an argument erupted between her and her husband, and the City Police were called to the scene. "Thereafter, the husband left the house to avoid arguments. He found the deceased dead in the house yesterday. The next of kin has been informed," a police crime report issued on Sunday stated.
In addition, 38-year-old Anthony Lisulo Mapenzi died by suicide in Okahao on Friday. It is alleged that the deceased left the house at around noon. Later, his lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree.
In Lüderitz on Friday, 28-year-old Kaen Amutenya was found dead in his house with a gunshot wound to the head.
And, on Saturday, 37-year-old Sem Mekondjo Johannes died by suicide. His body was discovered behind the Gammams Water Purification Plant in Wanaheda.
Fatal accidents
A man reportedly also died after a tree fell on him. Police said 68-year-old Womitondo Luavunga was found in the Kongola area, Zambezi Region, this weekend. It is alleged that the deceased was chopping a tree while standing under it when the tree toppled over, fatally injuring him.
Another person died in a car crash on Saturday, as per the police. Andrias Mutota Natangwe (36) died during a head-on collision on the B6 Road in Windhoek. The driver of another vehicle involved in the accident was admitted to the Lady Pohamba Private Hospital with severe injuries.
