Police in the Kavango West Region are appealing for the public's assistance to trace a suspect who allegedly killed a man in a hit-and-run in Rundu on Wednesday.
The acting regional commander, Detective Chief Inspector Hofni Angala, confirmed the incident, which took place at around 11:30 on the B-10 road close to Hilka Park. “It is suspected that the deceased was bumped by an unidentified motor vehicle, which fled the scene."
“The face of the deceased cannot clearly be identified due to the nature of injuries sustained. However, he was wearing grey jeans and a black and white striped T-shirt."
Angala said members of the public can visit the Rundu State Mortuary for possible identification of the body.
“The police is also cautioning pedestrians to be vigilant when crossing roads and drivers to adhere to all road traffic rules to avoid unnecessary loss of lives,” he said.
Anyone with information that could lead to the the suspect's arrest is urged to contact Detective Chief Inspector Kakoro at 081 258 2334 or Detective Inspector Kapolo at 081 394 8507.
