Man caught with containers of diesel

News in short
Tuyeimo Haidula
A 65-year-old man was arrested on Saturday after being caught with containers of diesel without a permit at Ondjondjo village on the Okatana-Endola main road.

Chief Inspector Thomas Aiyambo from the Oshana community policing sub-division said the man has been charged with contravening the Customs and Excise Act by being in possession of or dealing in illicit goods.

Aiyambo said the suspect was found driving a Toyota bakkie loaded with four 25-litre containers of diesel, without a permit.

The police also confiscated two empty 25-litre containers, he said. The value of the confiscated goods is yet to be determined.

The suspect will appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week.
