Man arrested for bribing officer

A 59-year-old man was arrested on Monday for attempting to bribe a police officer to release his impounded vehicle.
Chief inspector Thomas Aiyambo from the Oshana community policing sub-division said the man has been charged with contravening the Anti-Corruption Act. “The suspect attempted to bribe an officer with an amount of N$2 000 in order for the officer to release his impounded vehicle, which was used in the commission of an offence in another matter,” he said.
Aiyambo said the officer immediately reported the incident and the suspect was arrested.
He is expected to appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court this week.
