#JustIn Fraudsters allegedly pose as mayor
The Swakopmund municipality has warned residents about scammers posing as the town's mayor, Dina Namubes, in an attempt to solicit monetary payments.
The municipality says that all payments related to water and electricity or other municipal accounts must be made at the municipality and the Matutura payment point.
The payment of traffic fines can be done at a magistrate's court or the nearest NATIS office.
"Please note that neither the mayor of Swakopmund, the chief executive nor other municipal officials will request that money be paid directly to them or into their private accounts," said the municipality through their spokesperson, Linda Mupupa.
