JUST IN: Camera equipment, laptop worth over N$550 000 stolen

Camera equipment and other valuables worth over N$550 000 were stolen from a tourist's car recently.
According to the Namibian Police, the theft took place on the evening of Thursday, 11 July, or during the early morning hours of Friday, 12 July, in Walvis Bay's Meersig area.
The tourist, a man from the United Arab Emirates, reported that the stolen items included a Fuji GFX 100 II camera body, a Fuji GFX 100 S2 camera body, several Fuji GF lenses (500mm, 250mm, 20-35mm, 32-64mm and 45-100mm), a Fuji teleconverter lens, a 16-inch Apple MacBook laptop, a backpack from FS Top Gear, N$21 000 in cash and US$900 in cash. The total value of the stolen items amounts to N$562 665.35.
Erongo police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, is urging anyone with information that could aid in the investigation or lead to the identification of the suspects to contact the police at 081 246 4757 or 081 213 1891, or to report to the nearest police station.
"A reward of US$1 000 (about N$18 330) is being offered for information leading to the resolution of the case," he added.
Police investigations continue.
