Girl (12) raped, suspect at large
A 12-year-old girl was raped in Ondangwa last Friday at around 14:00.
According to police reports, the incident at Onatsi village allegedly took place while the minor was on her way from school. The suspect came from behind, held his hands over her eyes and mouth and threatened her with a knife.
He then dragged the minor to the ground and forcibly had sex with her without her consent. The suspect has not been caught and is still at large.
In related news, last Thursday, a 13-year-old was raped by a 41-year-old Angolan man in Oshomukwiyu village in the Endola constituency.
It is alleged that the suspect found the victim sleeping with other children in a room. He reportedly undressed her and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent. The suspect is the boyfriend of the victim's aunt, who was not at home at the time.
He was arrested and appeared in court yesterday.
Also last Thursday, a 26-year-old woman was raped in Outjo’s 7de Laan location.
It is alleged that the suspect grabbed and pulled the victim into his house and forcibly had sex with her. The two were allegedly seen drinking together before the incident.
The 34-year-old male suspect was arrested and appeared in the Outjo Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
Farm robbery
Meanwhile, between 21 and 22 September, suspects broke into Farm Arcadia in the Otjinene district and stole valuable items belonging to the 64-year-old farm owner.
According to a police report, four suspects entered the farm on foot, broke the front door and gained entrance to the farmhouse. They stole a Baikal shotgun, a Krico assault rifle, a Mauser rifle and a Ruby revolver as well as three Lenovo laptops and an Acer projector.
The total value of the stolen items is N$136 750. No recoveries or arrests have been made.
Bath electrocution
In Rehoboth’s Block B area, a 55-year-old Namibian woman died last Friday after an electrocution incident.
It is alleged that Ingrid Laetitia de Klerk was taking a bath when she suddenly started screaming for help.
She was found unconscious in the bathtub and was declared dead by paramedics at the scene. Police investigations continue.
