Domestic worker allegedly raped by boss on first day of work
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly raped on her first day at work as a domestic worker by a man who had offered her a job as a domestic worker at his house in Okashandja village in the Oshana Region.
The incident reportedly happened on Saturday at around 21:00.
Oshana police crime investigation coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Frederick Ndjadila, confirmed the incident yesterday.
He said in October, the woman reportedly announced on a local radio station that she was looking for work, and the suspect contacted her afterwards with a job offer.
She then travelled from Onalunike village in the Onankali area of the Oshikoto Region to start her new job.
Ndjadila said the suspect and woman arranged to meet, after which he drove her to his house.
“After she prepared dinner and they ate it, that same day, the suspect ordered the victim to [come to his bedroom]. When she did, he started touching her, and when she refused to be touched, he wrestled her to the ground until he overpowered her,” Ndjadila said.
Police said the suspect then allegedly forcefully removed the victim's clothing and raped her.
Afterwards the man reportedly fled from the house and remains at large, police confirmed yesterday.
