DNA results linked to Eenhana killings
A man who killed his girlfriend and the mother of his two children yesterday had allegedly told associates he was upset that DNA results showed he was not the father of the children.
Laurence Kapule Ndaoya (43) - who was killed by police during his arrest - allegedly accused his girlfriend Eva Leena Kalimbo (31) of infidelity, saying the children were fathered by a politician in the Ohangwena Region.
It is alleged that Ndaoya had threatened to kill the politician – who is known to Namibian Sun.
Residents of Eenhana were left reeling yesterday at the shocking news of the killings, which happened within hours of each other in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Ndaoya, a businessman, died at 03:19, according to the police, who said he was shot during a scuffle while he was being arrested for killing Kalimbo.
“It’s alleged that the suspect was shot and died during an attempt to arrest him by the members of the police. The deceased was tracked down by the police after he murdered his girlfriend in [Eenhana’s Eveline location] and in the process allegedly threatened to kill a member of the police.
“While charging towards [the police officers], he was shot and declared dead on the scene by the ambulance personnel,” a report into the incident read.
Slit her throat
According to the police, Ndaoya slit Kalimbo’s throat and “stabbed [her] with a sharp object, causing her death”.
Ohangwena crime investigations coordinator, deputy commissioner Zacharias Amakali, confirmed the incident and said Ndaoya was shot by the police during an attempt to arrest him.
Sources in Eenhana corroborated that when the police arrived to arrest Ndaoya close to the Eenhana State Hospital, he refused to surrender and charged at the officers.
“It was wild. We had to hide under the beds because we must have heard at least 10 gunshots. It looks like the police gave a warning shot and Ndaoya shot at them,” a resident said.
Kalimbo is survived by her two daughters, who were purported to be fathered by Ndaoya - until DNA evidence allegedly proved otherwise.
