Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 7
Embodying and manifesting godly wisdom in the workplace
Motherhood comes in different forms and last week we unpacked how Proverbs 31 as a professional woman relates to motherhood – (see Proverbs 31 as a professional woman, Part 6).
She uses godly wisdom to excel in success principle 5, which says: “She balances Genesis 1:28 with Genesis 3:15 while using the wisdom of Proverbs 14:1."
Life has taught her that she cannot exclusively pursue fruitfulness (Genesis 1:28) in the workplace while neglecting her child or children, because the enemy will use this gap in his battle against her children (Genesis 3:15). So, she relies on godly wisdom to pursue her career aspirations while building her home (Proverbs 14:1).
How does she do this?
Firstly, she surrenders her motherhood to God so that His wisdom can lead her (Proverbs 3:5-7, Romans 8:28, Jeremiah 29:11) and fulfil His plans and purposes for His children (Isaiah 55:8-12).
Secondly, she teaches her children that Elohim already blessed them to be great (Genesis 1:28, Jeremiah 1:5) and that what He has planned for them can only be revealed through Him (Proverbs 16:3) – see Proverbs 31as a professional woman, the introductory article that was published on 13 March.
Thirdly, she specifically teaches them about using godly wisdom in all circumstances, especially at school (see Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 1). She also teaches them about loving Him with their all, to have the fear of the Lord, as well as to love themselves in a healthy way (see Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 2).
She teaches them how to love other people and how to respond to difficult people (see Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Parts 3 and 4).
She models to them the essence of being present in one’s life (see Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 5).
Proverbs 31 as a professional woman lives in the revelation of God being her Heavenly Father (Romans 8:14-17, Ephesians 4:6) and she desires to also bring this revelation and relationship of divine Fatherhood to her children (see Proverbs 31 as a professional woman - Part 6).
How does she do all this?
She models what she wants to see in them and she also prays that God work in them “the desire and the power to do what pleases Him” (Philippians 2:13 NLT).
What are some of the practical steps to cultivate that desire and power in her children?
She teaches them that Elohim created them to know Him (John 17:20-23), to love Him (Mark 12:30) and to live a life of fellowship with Him (John 17:3, 2 Corinthians 5:18, 1 John 1:3).
How does she encourage them to know Him as Abba?
Deuteronomy 6:1-7 reminds her of her responsibility to teach God’s children about Him.
How does she do this?
She asks them to do bible study or watch the Superbook TV show (for the younger ones), then they must teach her what they learned about God and what they can apply in their lives from the specific story.
They are also taught to declare the 10 commandments in Exodus 20 as a prayer.
She reminds them that they are His children and they belong to Him through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:4-10, 2:19-22).
How does she encourage them to love Abba?
She tells them about her wonderful relationship with Abba and that He can only be found if they seek Him with their whole hearts (Jeremiah 29:13).
She encourages them to firstly talk to their Heavenly Father about anything – no matter how embarrassing – and that a specific prayer will be answered according to His will.
This teaches them to surrender to His will, builds confidence in their relationship and firms up their faith when He answers their prayers.
Additionally, she also asks them daily: “How did you experience your Heavenly Father’s love today? And how did you also show Him love today?”
This teaches them that Abba is relational and interested in receiving their love, whether expressed through prayer, praise, worship or Bible reading. With this approach, they don’t just pursue Him with a transactional mindset of what they need from Him, but it also encourages a personal relationship that involves their hearts.
How does she encourage them to fellowship with Abba?
She models the posture and a heart that desires and loves praying (Philippians 4:6-7, Mathew 6:6), praising and worshipping Him (John 4:24).
