Top Score instant porridge recalled

News in short
Augetto Graig
Namib Mills has announced that it is temporarily recalling the popular Top Score instant porridge from the market, while an investigation into the safety of the product is being carried out. This follows the death of three children in the Eastern Cape in South Africa, apparently after eating the porridge.

Namib Mills is taking the tragedy very seriously, according to a statement issued on Sunday by senior brand manager Marné Bouwer.

She said: “Namib Mills is deeply saddened by reports circulating in the media and on social media, which claim that three children in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa have tragically died after eating homemade porridge. It is alleged that one of our products, Top Score Instant, may be implicated".

Bouwer extended condolences to the families involved on behalf of the company. "While there is currently no evidence to link our product to this unfortunate incident, we take the issue very seriously," she said.
