Rössing empowers miners with conference sponsorship

Nikanor Nangolo
Rössing Uranium has sponsored N$50 000 to a team of 20 small-scale miners, under the Emerging Mining Association of Namibia, to attend an international mining conference in Angola.

Rössing Uranium’s managing director, Johan Coetzee, said Rössing has a long-standing relationship with the small-scale miners.

"Our most recent contribution was last year when we donated two boreholes to the Ûiba-Ôas co-operative to provide them with a reliable supply of water. We are pleased to make a positive contribution to small-scale miners again through this sponsorship. It is our wish that the team returns with knowledge that will aid their businesses," Coetzee said.

Cooperation

He said Rössing, as a responsible corporate citizen, recognises the importance of supporting its partners, which is why it chose to support the delegation in attending the mining conference.

"This way, they will become better equipped to support their members while at the same time contributing to the overall success of mining in Namibia."

President of the Emerging Mining Association of Namibia, Thekla Mutero, extended a word of appreciation to Rössing Uranium for sponsoring the trip. "This sponsorship will grant our members the opportunity to gain more knowledge as well as boost their confidence," Mutero said.
