Police housing at border posts under spotlight
Cheetah Cement handed over 10 tonnes of cement to the ministry of home affairs, immigration, safety and security as part of its corporate social responsibility. During the handover at the Cheetah Cement plant in Otjiwarongo, deputy minister Dr Daniel Kashikola said the cement would be utilised to improve the living quarters for police officers stationed at border posts.
"This contribution from Cheetah Cement comes at a time when the Namibian Police is facing challenges regarding the provision of proper accommodation for its members. Some members, especially those deployed at border posts, are living in deplorable conditions as they are accommodated in dilapidated tents," he said.
