Open day highlights Namdia’s role and goals

Nambia Desert Diamonds (Namdia) hosted its inaugural open day on 25 November, marking a significant step in enhancing transparency and fostering stronger relationships with stakeholders. The event provided key partners with a first-hand look at Namdia’s operations, its contribution to Namibia’s economy and insights into the global diamond industry.

Ten stakeholders from various departments attended the event, where Namdia’s leadership highlighted the company’s strategic initiatives and its role in positioning Namibia on the global diamond map.

“We are delighted to offer our stakeholders an inside look into Namdia’s operations,” said CEO Dr Alisa Amupolo. “This event underscores our commitment to transparent and open communication, which is crucial for building trust and reinforcing our position as a responsible and ethical player in the diamond industry.”

Namibian footprint

The event featured informative sessions led by Namdia’s executive team.

Amupolo emphasised the company’s mandate to create a Namibian footprint in the global diamond market, while other presentations covered governance practices, strategic direction and operational activities.

A key highlight was the focus on Namdia’s purchase entitlement and its role in the diamond value chain. Attendees had the rare opportunity to engage directly with Namibian rough diamonds, gaining deeper insights into the company’s ethical sourcing practices and commitment to the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS).

“The more our stakeholders understand our operations, the better they can serve as ambassadors for our brand,” Amupolo said.

“Transparency is a core value that shapes every aspect of our work, from sourcing to distribution, ensuring our diamonds meet the highest ethical standards.”

Vital contributor

The open day received positive feedback, with attendees praising the engaging presentations and the chance to connect with Namdia’s leadership.

“The personal touch from Namdia’s leadership made this event inclusive and enlightening," one participant said.

Looking ahead, Namdia plans to host similar events to further strengthen stakeholder relationships and promote its value-driven approach in the diamond industry.

“We are committed to ongoing engagement and collaboration,” Amupolo concluded. “Through transparency and communication, we aim to remain a vital contributor to Namibia’s economic growth and a global leader in ethical diamond trade.”
