Namdock reacts to disgruntled workers

Leandrea mouers
Namdock's management has issued a statement regarding workers downing tools earlier this morning, confirming that their bargaining unit is engaged in illegal industrial action.

The company stated that no notice of such action was provided to management and that the procedures for industrial action, as entrenched in the Recognition Agreement and the Labour Act, have not been followed.

“All efforts will be employed to resolve the dispute and prevent further disruptions to company operations. We can also confirm that the police are on site and maintaining order.”

The company stated that they have not been advised of the reason for the illegal action.

“We cannot confirm the nature of the disputes. Employees have been requested to return to their workstations, and we will follow our disciplinary procedure strictly for all involved.”

A meeting is planned for 15:00 today (8 April) to provide the union with an audience and discuss their disputes.

“This meeting was pre-planned and does not stem from the illegal action.”
