#JustIn: Husab celebrates decade
Founding President Sam Nujoma was the guest of honour on Friday at Swakop Uranium's anniversary celebrations for the Husab uranium mine, where mining commenced in 2013. During the event, Nujoma recalled unveiling the iconic Husab mine rock along the B2 main road and later visiting the mine in 2018.
"I am amazed by the transformation of the mine, and seeing a small town flourish in the middle of our desert is a wonderful sight," he said about the growth of the mine into the second-largest uranium mine in the world. According to him, the mine remains an example of friendly cooperation between Namibia and China, with a US$5 billion investment from China in the development of the mine.
