Ondangwa’s 11th expo hailed as a success

Kenya Kambowe
The Ondangwa Town Council has hailed their just-concluded 11th trade expo as a success and expects next year’s event to be even bigger and better.

This is according to the town’s spokesperson, Petrina Shitalangaho-Mutikisha, who said this year's visitor turnout and stands showcasing various products and services by the exhibitors met their expectations.

“The attendance at the trade exhibition this year met our expectations. We anticipate an impressive turnout and a wider range of activities in the coming year,” Shitalangaho-Mutikisha said.

Fun day and night

The Ondangwa Trade and Industrial Exhibition (OTIE) commenced on 30 April and concluded on 4 May, attracting thousands of people from all walks of life to the town’s trade fair centre.

Throughout the day, visitors had the opportunity to explore various corporate stalls and purchase items from exhibitors showcasing their products.

After sunset, visitors could indulge in meals and drinks while enjoying live music performances. They sang along and danced the night away.

The lineup of performers included King Tee Dee, Top Cheri, Manxebe, Exit, D-Kandjafa, Tate Buti, King Elegant and many others, all showcasing their amazing talents.

Valuable platform

During the official opening ceremony, urban and rural development minister Erastus Uutoni said events of this nature not only enable exhibitors to advertise and sell their products and services but also allow them to create valuable partnerships.

He applauded the Ondangwa Town Council for creating such a platform for small and medium enterprises.

“The Ondangwa trade fair and expo is much more than a showcase of products and services. It is a platform for businesses to network, collaborate and establish partnerships,” he said.

“It is a platform for innovation where new ideas and solutions are shared. It is a platform for economic growth, where businesses can expand their client base and increase their market presence," the minister noted.

In line with a vision

Uutoni said government's vision is to create vibrant and sustainable local economies that provide opportunities for all.

He said the Ondangwa trade fair thus "aligns perfectly with this vision. It provides a stage for our local businesses to shine, to demonstrate their capabilities and to connect with potential customers.

He said Ondangwa's expo can play a crucial role in driving our economy forward.

"It can help us attract investment, stimulate growth and create jobs. But this can only happen if we, as a region, embrace it, support it, and use it to its full potential.”
