MTC Wine Extravaganza a success

The Windhoek Country Club recently hosted the MTC Wine Extravaganza 2024, an event that not only delighted wine aficionados, chocolate lovers and cigar enthusiasts but also celebrated Namibia's burgeoning wine industry and rich cultural heritage.

Founded with the vision to introduce a diverse array of wines to Namibia, the MTC Wine Extravaganza has evolved into a premier event that celebrates the artistry of winemaking while providing a platform for tourism, restaurants, wine enthusiasts, and distributors to connect. This year's extravaganza featured a remarkable selection of 198 wines, showcasing products from the renowned Cape Winelands of South Africa to prestigious estates across Europe, alongside emerging Namibian wines that are gaining recognition on the global stage.

Chris Coetzee, one of the founders of the event, expressed gratitude to attendees, emphasising their integral role in the event's success.

Reflecting on the event's evolution, Coetzee highlighted MTC's pivotal role as the lead sponsor for the past four years. "MTC's partnership has been truly remarkable," he stated. "Their support has not only enhanced the event's offerings and reach but also underscored their commitment to celebrating and promoting Namibian culture."

Coetzee also acknowledged the challenges of organising such a grand affair, including logistics and costs.

"This year, logistics and high costs were particularly challenging," he admitted. "However, with a great team and fantastic support from industry leaders like MTC and the Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino, we overcame these obstacles."

Diana Katiti, who attended the event, described it as "absolutely enchanting. With every sip of wine accompanied by decadent chocolates and the aroma of fine cigars, the atmosphere was perfect," she said.

Future plans

Looking ahead, Coetzee announced exciting plans for the future. "We are thrilled to announce that for the first time ever, MTC will host the Wine Extravaganza in Ongwediva on July 5th and 6th, 2024, at the Queens Hall Trade Fair Centre," he revealed. "This expansion marks a new chapter for the event, continuing to celebrate Namibia's unique spirit with MTC and every home."

The MTC Wine Extravaganza 2025 was not merely a gathering of wine enthusiasts but a testament to Namibia's growing presence in the global wine scene, bolstered by partnerships and community support that promise a vibrant future for the event.
