Goethe-Institut Namibia to host Angolan choreographer Aneth Silva
The Goethe-Institut Namibia has announced a special dance performance by the renowned Angolan choreographer Aneth Silva on Wednesday, 25 September. This performance is part of the Goethe Mobiarts 2024 programme, a groundbreaking initiative aimed at showcasing artistic diversity and fostering cross-cultural dialogue across Africa.
Aneth Silva, a celebrated figure in the performing arts community, is one of the four exceptional artists selected for the Goethe Mobiarts 2024 programme.
The other artists are Checkmate Mido (Spoken Word, Kenya), Nobuhle Ashantis (Piano, South Africa) and Skriim (DJ, Cameroon). Known for her innovative choreography and artistic direction, Silva’s performance in Windhoek promises to be an unforgettable experience.
The Goethe Mobiarts 2024 programme, also referred to as "Mobile – Cross-Border Meetings for Diversity in the Performing Arts," brings together a diverse group of artists for a tour across several African countries from August to November 2024.
Silva, who graduated in management/production of the performing arts from Associação Fórum Dança in Lisbon, Portugal, is celebrated for her dynamic approach to choreography and performance. She gained recognition by winning the third season of Semba Comunicação's Bounce Angola Dance Competition. Her work is known for creating transformative experiences that engage audiences and foster artistic expression.
"The Goethe Mobiarts programme is dedicated to bridging cultural boundaries, promoting inclusivity, and raising awareness about disability and inclusion issues. The tour will see Silva and her fellow artists perform in Lomé (Togo), Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), Windhoek (Namibia), and Luanda (Angola), culminating in a celebration of diverse artistic talents and cultural exchange," read a statement by The Goethe-Institut Namibia.
