Network Television (NTV) held its first-ever awards ceremony at the Windhoek Country Club on Thursday evening.

A delighted Diana Master palmed the ultimate prize of Viewer's Choice for Presenter during a formal event dedicated to commemorating NTV’s second anniversary.

Winners were determined by a voting process that was channelled via various Namibia Media Holdings (NMH) platforms, among them the Synergi-Bot on WhatsApp.

“Save the number and gain access to media and information, as you have never been able to do," said Hennie Geldenhuys of Synergi Namibia.

Large viewership

Information and communication technology minister Emma Theofelus expressed her appreciation for the role that NTV has played in improving the communication sector in Namibia, especially in terms of visual access to information for people in rural areas.

She commended NTV for its 121 370 viewers per day and its array of 39 programmes.

Making use of its brand NTV, the publishing house NMH has substantially altered its approach in how it shares information with NTV and its 39 programmes, forming part of that approach.

Wider reach

NMH chief executive officer Albe Botha pointed out that the NMH media group now reaches more than one million people on a daily basis.

“We are getting close to 200 000 people via NTV, be that via DStv or GOtv or via the net.”

He made it clear that both NTV and NMH, as a group, would expand their activities beyond the borders of Namibia.

“We will change our name to Namibia Media Hub to reflect our reach beyond the country.”
