Fresh and popping: January edition

Kicking off the year with bangers
In the past year, we have seen singles make more of an impact on the music scene than fully-fledged albums.

tjil put together a list of some of the trending songs and music videos for your listening pleasure.

'Go Down' – Gazza feat. Kaygee The Vibe and Ice Beatslide

Artist of the decade Gazza has been very generous lately, having dished out three singles in the last two months. Last Friday, he released ‘Go Down’. The Amapiano single features Kaygee The Vibe and Ice Beatslide and is available on all major streaming platforms.

Girlfriend – Ees feat. Oteya

Kwaito artist Ees is one of the musicians who has been consistently feeding his fan base. On ‘Girlfriend’, he worked with renowned singer Oteya, who - of course - did not disappoint on the hook. The love song came at the right time, seeing that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. The track was released with a music video, which is now available on YouTube.

Top Score – Chakie feat. DJ Spuzza and Chester Houseprince

Even though this track is not necessarily new, the music video to 'Top Score' was only released less than two weeks ago, making it eligible for this edition of Fresh and Popping. In the visuals, the featured artists DJ Spuzza and Chester Houseprince play the roles of crusty school teachers who are also part-time musicians. This plot is relatable to many in Namibia and it can be attributed to why the video is doing so well. It shows that the artists aren’t just musicians, but actors in their own right as well. Released 10 days ago, the video is about to clock 60 000 views on YouTube.
