Concerts for conservation coming to OneAfrica

STAFF REPORTER
Africa's entertainment pulse, OneAfrica TV, is set to host the Namibian premiere of the much-anticipated Wild Africa Fund concert series tomorrow, 24 June, at 20:00.

This ground-breaking collaboration between Wild Africa Fund and The Rockstar Group will see more than 100 African artists coming together for a series of over 100 ‘Music for Wildlife’ concerts, set to air through 2023 and 2024.

World-renowned artists like Musa Keys, Focalistic and Anita Jaxson will join Namibia’s own superstars TopCheri and KP Illest and many more chart-topping stars from across the continent to perform in these eco-conscious concerts.

Esteemed on-camera appearances include Lupita Nyong'o, David Beckham and Namibia’s own Odile Gertze, with a myriad of Pan African and global stars adding an extra layer of star-studded appeal.

OneAfrica CEO Stefan Hugo expressed immense enthusiasm for this campaign, emphasising that "conservation is a shared concern for all of us”.

“Through the Wild Africa Fund, we witness global personalities, activists and artists uniting from all corners of the world to raise awareness about these critical issues, while showcasing the extraordinary artistic talents of Africa. We are honoured to be part of this noble initiative and eagerly look forward to bringing this ground-breaking form of eco-edutainment to our Namibian audiences."

The greatest show

Meanwhile, Gertze, Wild Africa Fund’s head talent and relationship manager, elaborated on the vital need to protect the continent’s wildlife.

“Africa is home to the world’s most spectacular wildlife and wild places. But this incredible natural heritage is increasingly threatened by poaching, the illegal wildlife trade and habitat loss. This is where we come in.

"We want to draw on the best of Africa’s music in conjunction with the greatest show on earth - our spectacular flora and fauna - to transcend borders, cultures and languages to promote wildlife conservation and drive positive social change with global partners such as OneAfrica.”

Wild Africa Fund is an African non-governmental organisation that aims to be Africa's leading wildlife and environmental communicator.
