Prisca Anyolo, one of the top 10 finalists for Miss Namibia 2024, radiates both confidence and humility as she reflects on her journey thus far.

"I attribute my success in the competition to a combination of hard work, dedication and the unwavering support of my family and friends," she shared. "From the beginning, I have been committed to presenting the best version of myself - not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Additionally, I am passionate about my advocacy and truly believe in the power of giving back to the community. This passion has driven me to push myself further and has been a significant factor in my journey to the top 10."

If crowned Miss Namibia, Anyolo told tjil she plans to focus on her charity project, ‘Crowning Gardens’, aimed at eradicating poverty through sustainable gardening in vulnerable communities.

"By providing the tools, knowledge and resources for people to grow their own food, we can promote self-sufficiency, improve nutrition and create economic opportunities," she said, adding that she believes that sustainable gardening can transform lives, reduce hunger and foster a sense of community resilience.

The beauty queen emphasised the importance of pageantry for young Namibian girls, noting its role in personal and professional development. "Pageantry provides a platform to showcase talents, intelligence and inner beauty, while also building confidence and public speaking skills," she said. "Young girls learn the value of discipline, hard work and perseverance, and it offers opportunities to engage in community service and advocacy, helping them develop a sense of social responsibility."

Positive impact

Envisioning her potential reign, Anyolo aims to make a positive impact on her community and the country. "Through 'Crowning Gardens', I hope to address food insecurity and poverty, promoting sustainable living practices. I also plan to collaborate with local organisations to support educational initiatives for young girls, ensuring they have access to the resources and opportunities needed to succeed."

To young girls aspiring to participate in pageants, Anyolo offers sage advice: "Believe in yourself and stay true to who you are. Embrace every opportunity to learn and grow, and don’t be afraid to step out of your comfort zone".

"Pageantry is not just about beauty; it’s about intelligence, kindness and resilience. Focus on your education, develop your talents and engage your community. Remember that success comes from hard work, dedication and a positive attitude. Follow your dreams with passion and confidence, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to," she said.

The Miss Namibia 2024 crowning event is set to take place in July. tjil will run weekly profiles on the top 10 finalists leading up to the ceremony.
