SA lawyer in NEFF case faces immigration issues

South African lawyer Dali Mpofu and his team, who arrived in the country on Monday evening to represent the Namibia Economic Freedom Fighters (NEFF) in their deregistration case against the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN), have encountered issues with immigration officials, who are demanding additional information for Mpofu's work visa application. It is understood that one of the pieces of information being demanded is Mpofu's academic qualifications. NEFF has slammed the impasse as politically motivated. Meanwhile, the proceedings in the matter have kicked off in the Electoral Court in Windhoek, without the South African lawyers' involvement. NEFF is represented by Kadhila Amoomo, while ECN has roped in advocate Gerson Narib, who argued that the Electoral Court has no jurisdiction to hear the matter.
