Big Ben urges artists to support 80% cut in foreign content on local tv, radio
UPDATE: Namibian performing and recording artist Big Ben is calling on fellow artists and musicians to amplify a motion tabled in parliament by Popular Democratic Movement member of parliament Inna Hengari this week that proposes to cut 80% of foreign content on local radio and TV.
"I have engaged a couple of members of parliament from the ruling party and the opposition party, and they are all saying they do not oppose this motion, but I got the feeling that they are concerned that musicians themselves are not talking about it enough," said Big Ben, adding that the motion will get better attention if it is backed by artists in the next few weeks.
