Tragic head-on collision near Swakopmund claims two lives
Two drivers, who were sole occupants of a truck and a bakkie, respectively, burned beyond recognition when their vehicles collided head-on between Swakopmund and Arandis at around 00:10 this morning.
According to Erongo Police Chief Inspector Ileni Shapumba, it is alleged that the truck, with the driver as the sole occupant, was travelling from Swakopmund towards Arandis. The bakkie, also with a single occupant, was heading from Arandis towards Swakopmund when they collided head-on.
The bakkie driver was identified as a 38-year-old male Chinese national employed as a site manager for Beifang mining company. The truck driver has not yet been identified, police said.
