Man lost at sea safely back home
NEWS IN SHORT
Lisius Pashukeni Nkandi, 44, a chief mate of a fishing vessel that got stranded at sea on Saturday, is safely back home in Walvis Bay. The vessel left Walvis Harbour on Friday night with 10 crew members, but on Saturday, it became immobilised due to an issue with the cylinder head and eventually broke down.
On Sunday afternoon, at around 14:00, Nkandi disembarked from the vessel in a rubber dinghy without a motor and sailed towards land. He was initially reported missing but was found safe and in good condition yesterday. Details about where and how he was found remain unclear.
