Keep your children safe, MVA Fund urges

As the end of the first school term looms and with most schools expected to close for the winter break today, the Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) Fund has urged motorists, community members, parents and guardians to ensure the safety of all children from traffic-related injuries and fatalities.

In a statement released yesterday, it said road crashes are among the leading causes of injuries and fatalities for children. “The high road safety risks increase at night, before and after school hours, during weekends, public holidays and school holidays, as children are most likely to be playing outside in the streets.”

The onus rests on parents or guardians to take responsibility to ensure that children remain safe, the fund stressed.
