Eight die in accident at Otavi
Eight people died this afternoon in an accident on the B1 between Otavi and Otjiwarongo.
Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha of the community policing subdivision of the Namibian police (Nampol) in the Otjozondjupa region confirmed that eight people died at the scene about 20 km from Otavi.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle travelling from Otjiwarongo was overtaking another when it collided head-on with an oncoming seven-seater vehicle. All the deceased were from this vehicle.
Nampol members are currently on the scene near the B2Gold mine.
