Boy (12) dies after double vehicle tragedy

A 12-year-old boy died on Friday afternoon at Oniingo village in the Oshikoto Region after he was hit by a minibus and then run over by a truck.
According to the police report, the incident took place at around 15:00 when the victim, Johannes Nande Jerobeam, was crossing the road. He was hit by a white Toyota Quantum minibus that was travelling from Ondangwa towards Omuthiya. The boy fell onto the road, which led to a Scania truck - travelling from the opposite direction - driving over him.
Jerobeam sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot.
He was a grade five learner at Oshikanyandi Combined School and a resident of Onambeke B village.
The driver of the bus is 32-years-old, while the truck driver is 61. Both are in possession of driver’s licences.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened and police investigations continue.
