Brave Warriors goal poacher Elmo Kambindu is picking up form at the right time after scoring in consecutive DStv Premiership matches for his club, Chippa United.

"I had a good preseason because I have been gelling well with the new players at the club.

“My biggest aim this season was to grab every opportunity I got, and I honestly told myself that I was going to score goals.

“I am currently working hard to maintain and continue with my fighting spirit,” Kambindu said.

Kambindu netted the only goal of the match on Tuesday to help his team beat SuperSport United in the South African DStv Premiership.

This was prior to his brace, which saw Chippa United beat Richards Bay 2-1 in their previous match on 19 September.

In his debut season, Kambindu only appeared seven times for United, playing his only full 90 minutes of the season in the club’s last match.

Rejuvenated career

It appears that the 30-year-old is finally finding his feet in the South African Premiership.

The player currently has over 24 international career caps for the senior national team under his belt, having scored nine goals in the process.

Kambindu formerly played for Tura Magic and Mighty Gunners in Namibia before a short stint with Mozambique’s Costa do Sol.

He was signed to Chippa United in the 2022 season, following impressive form on the international stage.

It appears that the talisman has rejuvenated his career in South Africa, and many expect him to shine following his good start to the season.

Proud of the national team

The player has already been on Collin Benjamin’s books for the Brave Warriors, and maintaining his current form can only enhance his chances of making the team towards Afcon in January.

The player expressed his wish to remain injury-free and said he'd appreciate any call-up to the national team.

“I wish I can stay fit and continue to score goals for the club and the national team if I get a call-up again.

“I have always seen it as an honour to play for the national team and will work hard in order to represent my country again,” Kambindu noted.
