V-Power Angels, Ongos open with wins

Limba Mupetami
The FNB Women Super League’s 2023-2024 season kicked off with two matches in Windhoek at the Unam Stadium on Saturday.

In sweltering heat, V-Power Angels opened the season with a 4-2 win against NUST Babes.

The head coach of V-Power Angels, Risto Shikomba, said a number of his players have been busy with exams and the overall fitness level is not up to scratch.

He, however, added that he is happy with the three points they bagged in the opening match, even though it was not the performance he expected.

He added that they need to work on finishing in front of goal and to sign new players. Shikoma also stated that their target for the season is to finish top four.

In the second match of the day, title holders Ongos FC (formerly Tura Magic) defeated coastal visitors Arrows Ladies 2-0.

Emma Naris and Thomalina Adams, both experienced players for the Brave Gladiators, scored goals for Ongos.
