Futsal works towards national selection

A corporate Futsal league is also being planned this year.
The 2023 Futsal Leagues kicked off successfully over the weekend at the Windhoek Show Grounds.
Football was played in three divisions (Premier, first and second division) with league organizers Andrei Tirterao and Absai Simon announcing some new developments.
Tirterao stated that since they have been approved by the Namibia Football Association, a lot of opportunities are opening up. “We put a lot of hours into in this initiative,” he added.
He said they will introduce a corporate league this year and give chance to those who want to play for fun. They also held their first referee training to grow the community of qualified match officials.
“They will change the constitution to fall in line with NFA and FIFA statutes. We are working toward our first national team as well.”
Tirterao said they want to expand the league to more regions, but lack of infrastructure issues and of investment means it has been difficult to move beyond Windhoek.
“However, we will be launching in Rundu to do Futsal development as we have partners with Julinho FC and is also looking at taking the game to Swakopmund as they have facilities at The Dome,” Tirterao said.
