Pohamba security officers die in accident

Police have confirmed that two members of the Namibian police force, attached to the VVIP Directorate and allocated to the protection of former President Hifikepunye Pohamba, died in the road accident that occurred between Tsumeb and Otavi on Wednesday morning. They are driver Sergeant Job Mekondjo Kahorongo (37) and warrant officer Jason Kanyemba (54). "It is further alleged that the driver of the Toyota Double-Cab V6 [Kahorongo] lost control of the vehicle after a right rear tyre burst. The vehicle left the road and rolled several times before it came to a standstill," reads a police report. Two other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Otjiwarongo State Hospital.
