Ten-man Baroka beat Chiefs to win Charity Cup

Baroka FC were crowned F.A.M.E. Charity Cup winners after beating Kaizer Chiefs 3-0 on penalties on Saturday.
After starting on the bench against Orlando Pirates, Ramahlwe Mphahleleand Lewis Macha were handed starts. While, Geofrey Massa started for the NFD champions.
Chiefs’ first real opening arrived after 11 minutes when Macha and William Twala combined, but the latter fired over the crossbar from close range.
Baroka squandered a good chance to break the deadlock after 17 minutes, as Mzwanele Mahashe headed wide of the upright from close range.
Chiefs enjoyed most of the possession in the first half, but struggled with their final ball around the 18-yard area. The sides went into the break with the score locked at 0-0.
Chiefs should have taken the lead 10 minutes into the second half when Kgotso Moleko was played through on goal, however the full-back failed to beat Masuluke from six-yards out.
Briiant Khuzwayo was called into action in the 68th minute, as he produced a fine save to keep out Soso’s effort from the edge of the box.
Baroka were then reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when Mothupa was given his marching orders after picking his second yellow card.
With time running out, Steve Komphela introduced Edward Manqele and Ryan Moon for the final stages but he did not make the desired impact as the tie went into a penalty shootout. Although, it was the newly promoted side who held their nerve in the shoot-out to win the cup, as Chiefs missed all three penalties.

Here’s how they lined up:
Baroka: Masuluke, Lietsisa, Shaku, Mahashe, Mothupa, Zikalala, Soso, Jwara, Junetsi, Matete, Massa
Kaizer Chiefs: Khuzwayo , Masilela, Gordinho, Mphahlele, Moleko, Twala, Katsande, Maluleka, Lebese , Parker, Macha
