Missing persons’ bodies found in Erongo
The Erongo police have discovered the human remains of three people at three different locations in the Erongo Region this month. Two of them were previously reported as missing.
The remains of a woman who had been missing since 10 August 2024 were found at Dawe Tsaub Farm, on the outskirts of Otjimbingwe, on Saturday, 25 January, at around 10:00.
According to the incident report provided by the police, the owner of the farm alerted the police that while he was searching for his cattle around the farm in the river, he discovered human remains in the form of bones.
“He immediately alerted the police. The police officers at Otjimbingwe attended to the scene and found the remains (upper body parts) suspected to be those of a person who was reported missing on 10 August 2024. The team confirmed that it was indeed human remains (bones) consisting of the backbone, ribs, and a skull," police said this week.
The police explained that the body was identified by a family member as that of the reportedly missing Katrina Paulina Boois. However, police will conduct forensic investigations to confirm details. The cause of death is yet to be determined through forensic examination.
Her next of kin has been informed.

Secondly, in Okombahe, the body of a man who reportedly went missing in late December at Okatjio Farm was found in the field on the farm this week on Tuesday.
The report by the police explained that the discovery was made at about 12:12 by a resident of the farm.
“The resident discovered the decomposed body of Andries Oaeb (34), who was reported missing on 25 December 2024. The remains were taken to Okombahe State Clinic mortuary for death certification and storage. The police will conduct a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. No foul play was suspected so far.”
His next of kin have been informed and investigations into the matter continue.
Identity not known
Furthermore, the police are requesting the assistance of the public to identify the remains of a man, believed to be in his late 40s, who was found at Farm Tubusis Pos 2 on 18 January.
According to the police, the decomposed body was found by a livestock herder.
“The description is of a male person, dark in complexion, short (approximately 1.65 m), believed to have died a month ago. He was wearing green, short trousers without a T-shirt and without shoes.”
His body has been taken to Walvis Bay police mortuary for identification and a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
“All efforts to trace the family have proven futile. Police are calling upon the public to assist in identification.”
